Today, Chines smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has launched a budget category smartphone Redmi 5A; marketed as the “Desh Ka Smartphone” in India. Xiaomi Redmi 5A is the successor of Redmi 4A, which still retails in the country for Rs. 5,999.
The main highlight of Redmi 5A is its 3000 mAH battery, which gives ‘8 days battery life’, referring to standby time claimed by the company. Otherwise, the smartphone is not too much upgrade over its previous version, 4A.

Redmi 5A Specifications
Xiaomi Redmi 5A sports a 5″ HD (1280*720 pixels) display with a pixel density of 296ppi.
It is powered by 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC (clocked at up to 1.4 GHz), coupled with 2GB or 3GB RAM.
The Smartphone has 13 MP (f/2.2 aperture) with LED Flash on rear and 5 MP (f/2.0 aperture) front shooter.
The Redmi 5A comes in 2 variants, 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB. The memory can be further expanded to up to 128 GB via SD Card. Also, this phone comes with a dedicated sim slot, where one can use two sim card and a micro SD card at the same time.
Connectivity and Sensors
Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/A-GPS, a 3.5mm audio headphone jack, Micro USB port for charging and data synchronizing. Accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and proximity sensor are the basic sensors that it has.
It measures 140.4*70*8.35 mm and weighs 137 grams. Redmi 5A will be available in different color options include Dark Gray, Gold, and Rose-Gold.
Redmi 5A Price in India
Redmi 5A 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB variants are priced at Rs. 5,999 and Rs.6,999 respectively. But for now, the company provides an introductory offer of Rs.4,999 on 2GB/16GB variant only for the first 5 million units in India, which also makes this phone cheapest Xiaomi smartphone in the country. The smartphone will be available via Flipkart and Mi Online Store from December 7 at 12 pm.
